Working with old weathered and broken green house glass that was destined for landfill, I have created panels of textured glass that are destined to be used in a show garden at RHS Malvern Spring Show this year, designed by Humble Bee Gardeners. The panels are being used to represent part of a bee wing and will infill various shapes in a gazebo roof and wall.
The wing & nature inspired textures were created using my loose bed of sieved Ludo, and various textures that I have collected over the years. Quartz Crystals & Old Pallet Wrap are just two of my favourites.
A body of work focusing on the Iris in our eye.
Having witnessed first hand the flatness in the eye of my partner I wanted to explore this emotional roller-coaster and create a beautiful piece of glass. I firstly wanted to capture the beauty of the Iris muscle and have created a wonderful casting process that plays with glass' fluid nature to draw the layers of colour and clear to a cohesive flowing Iris pattern. Now it is a case of exploring how to portray the flatness and lack of spark that became the portal of him for some time. As well as playing with vessel forms and mounting frames.
A fun exploration is continuing on.
